TRAER - Eugene Moffitt, 84, of Traer died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at the Geneseo United Methodist Church. burial was in the Geneseo Cemetery.

Eugene Moffitt was born March 10, 1924, in Crystal Township, Tama County, the son of John and Jennie (Graham) Moffitt. He was raised in Geneseo and he graduated from Geneseo High School. Eugene was employed briefly at Rath Packing Company, then moved back to work on the family farm when his father became ill.

He married Ina Mae in 1946, to which two children were born. Ina Mae preceded him in death in 1973. In 1978, Eugene was united in marriage to Deloris. They continued living on the family farm until 1991, then they moved to Traer, but continued to farm. Eugene enjoyed farming, traveling, the view of the countryside from his house in Traer, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ina Mae and two brothers; John and William.

Eugene is survived by his wife Deloris of Traer; a son John (Jacque) Moffitt of Dysart; two stepsons; David and Dale Reineking; a daughter Rosalyn (Jim) Baird of Fairbanks, Alaska; four grandchildren and a sister, Mary Kalberg of Traer.

Overton Funeral Home in Traer was in charge of arrangements.
