TRAER - Bertha Agnes Kuhn, 89, of Traer died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer following an extended illness. A visitation was held on Thursday, May 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service was held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Belle Plaine on Friday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine, IA.

Bertha Agnes Kuhn was born July 4, 1919 in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Edward and Saddie (Campe) Cornelis. She received her education in Illinois and at the age of 14 moved with her family to Chelsea. On February 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kuhn. Bertha and Kenneth farmed for 5 years and made their home at Hartwick where Kenneth was employed for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. In 1956 they moved to Traer where she continued to live following Kenneth's death on September 23, 1978. For the past 11 years she made her home at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where her death came on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the age of 89 years. She is survived by three daughters, Vi (Larry) Barge of Clutier, Kate (Don) Crandall of Oskaloosa and Ruth (Eleazer) Stoakes of Traer and 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Overton Funeral Home, Traear, was in charge of the arrangements.
