September 25, 2008, Traer Star-Clipper

Vincent grew up on a farm near Traer, Iowa. Until he became a Christian, at age 18, his priority in life was to avoid as much hard work as possible. Jesus changed everything for him. In fact, from that time on, his life can be described quite honestly as a relentless pursuit of Truth. His pursuit took him to the jungles of Paraguay, South America, in a futile attempt to convert the Moro Indians; he took along, against the advice of his parents and his parents-in-law, a faithful wife, Imogene, and 4 children under 7 years of age. Relentless.

They returned to the States after four years, in order to provide his children with an American education. For three years, Vince and his family ran a farm-cum-boot-camp for prospective missionaries, in Wisconsin. Maple syrup and plenty of hay; oh, and milking three times a day, until appendicitis came to the rescue. Relentless.

Off to Minnesota, for one 36-below winter, and then to O Fair, New Mexico, to earn a Master's Degree at age 45. While he was earning his degree, he was also working full time as the dairyman for Eastern, NM University. Relentless!

All this time, Vincent continued to read, and search the Scriptures for The Truth. He has now entered the presence of the One who sparked his pursuit so long ago. The One who affirms, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life...". It's a "comfort sweet to know, as I journey here below, every heartbeat brings me nearer home." The pursuit is finally over, and we rejoice in the hope of seeing him one day in the Kingdom where Truth abides.

Vincent is survived by his wife Imogene, two sons and four daughters, one daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Do not weep for them. Rejoice. All is well.
