Nicholas William Irvine was born September 29, 1994 in Eau Claire, Wis., to Tom Irvine and Cindy Weber. Nick was a straight-A student at Vermillion High School in Vermillion, SD. An essential member of the High School Debate Team, he loved the competitions, winning several medals. One of his great passions was reading. Nick spent many hours reading books from philosophy to history to biographies and everything in between. His goal was to one day become a political journalist. Those who knew Nick will remember his great sense of compassion. He never judged anyone and made friends with people from all walks of life. To Nick, it didn't matter who you were or where you came from; he was glad to be your friend. Nick was also artistic, appreciated art and poetry and expressed himself in many paintings. When he wasn't reading, skateboarding or painting, Nick followed college football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. He had a special gift for making people laugh and his million-dollar smile will long be remembered. Nick touched many lives during his short time with us and will truly be missed. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Cindy Weber Blair of Vermillion, SD; father Tom (Sherry) Irvine of Buckingham; stepfather Doug Blair of North Sioux City, SD; one sister, Trisha Irvine (Austin Gould) of Dixon, NB; two nephews, Brendyn & Evan Gould of Dixon, NB; stepbrother, Matthew Wilemon, South Bend, IN; stepsisters, Melissa Hathaway, Menomonie, Wis., Sarah Wilemon, Fort Lewis, WA, Lisa Plank, Phoenix, AZ; Maternal grandparents, Jack & Vera Weber, Traer; paternal grandparents: Willy and Burnetta Irvine, Waterloo, IA, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, along with many friends. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
