Charlotte Jane Harder was born September 7, 1914 at Dike, Iowa to Harris and Florence (Hyde) Porter. She received her education in Reinbeck, Iowa graduating with the class of 1932.

On September 11, 1949 she married Ralph Harder in Reinbeck and they made their home in Traer. Charlotte was a bookkeeper for Viking Pump in Cedar Falls and A&P Grocery in Waterloo before keeping the books for the Sinclair and Conoco service stations in Traer. After Ralph’s death in 1980 she continued to live in her home in Traer later moving to Sunrise Hill Care Center, where her death came on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at the age of 91 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, PEO and Ripley United Church of Christ. In her spare time Charlotte loved to sew, work in her garden and was an avid reader.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph; four brothers, Albert, Howard, Don and Blair Porter. She is survived by two daughters, Jane and husband Craig Harding of Shell Rock, Iowa, Lois and husband Don Broman of West Des Moines, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Betty Porter of Waverly; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial Service: Saturday, April 8, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the Ripley United Church of Christ, Traer, IA. Pastor Sheryl Campbell will officiate. Inurnment will be at Reinbeck Municipal Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa. Overton Family Funeral Homes-Traer will handle the arrangements.
