Mrs Casey dies Friday in IC hospital
Mrs Clarence (Frances) Casey, 74, Toledo resident at 701 College Street, formerly of 605 Arlington Dr Marshalltown, died Fri Feb 9, 1978 at 1am in University hospitals, Iowa City following surgery. She was admitted Wed evening in Marshalltown Area Comm hospital with a heart condition & entered the IC hospitals Thurs.
Services were held at 1pm Mon from the Chapel of Mason-Hand Funeral Home, Tama with Rev Weldon Whitenack, pastor of Firtst Methodist church, Marshalltown, officiating. Mrs John Kaloupek, Belle Plaine, was organist & floral tributes were cared for by Mrs Robert Ruby & Mrs Wesley McGrew.
Pallbearers were Robert Ruby, William Bazyn, Wes McGrew, Norman Dvorak, Lance Horbach & Thomas Baker. Burial was in Haven cemetery, southeast Tama.
As Frances Marguerite Kent, she was born in the Haven community on March 5, 1904, daughter of Charles & Ellen Haley Kent. She attended rural schools in the Haven area & the Belle Plaine business college.
On Dec 25, 1926 she married Clarence A Casey of Chelsea. The couple ran the Haven store until 1932 then farmed southwest of Chelsea until retiring to Marshalltown in 1966. They resided there until a month ago when they moved to the Toledo address.
Mrs Casey was a member of the First Methodist Church of Marshalltown, United Methodist Women’s Org, Home Builders & several others.
She is survived by her husband & two daughters: Marilyn (Ed) Hill, Chelsea & Donna (Lyle) Baker, Indian Hills addition, Tama; five grandchildren: Vicki (Richard) Chase of CR, Susan Randall of San Francisco CA, Pam, Lisa & Tim Baker of Tama and two granchildren: Jeff & Jeremy of CR. Also surviving are two brothers, Fred Kent of Decatur AR & Warren Kent of Belle Plaine; two sisters, Mrs Martha Huron & Mrs Carentine Daniels of Zephyr Hills FL.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy, who died July 31, 1937, an infant son, Donald & a brother, Elmer Kent.
