Norbert Otis Peters, age 56, of Ipswich, Suffolk in the United Kingdom, formerly of the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home. Traditional Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 5:00 PM at the Roy Kapayou Jr. residence at 1548 Meskwaki Road in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Leo Morgan, head pallbearer; Brandon Wanatee, Bradley Wanatee, Zachary Wanatee, LeLand Morgan, Gilbert Brown, Daniel Youngbear Brown, Jon Whitebreast, Eric Lasley, and Virgil Lasley. Funeral Services and interment will be held in the United Kingdom on May 14, 2007.
Norbert was born on December 28, 1950 in Tama County, the son of Roy Kapayou and Olivia Peters. He was retired from the United States Air Force after serving for twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandfather Samuel Peters Sr., and uncles Samuel Peters Jr., and Melvin Twin.
Survivors include his wife, Marina P. Peters of Ipswich; children, Sefton, Lance, and LeAnn all of Ipswich; a granddaughter, Ella; six sisters, Lynn I Morgan of Tama, Carolyn J. Alamo of Tama, Anita L. Davenport of Tama, Kay E. Wasekuk of Tama, Jami Sue Akeens of Tama, and Winona Kapayou of Tama; two brothers Roy Kapayou Jr. of Tama, and Joey J. Kapayou of Newton; adopted mother Chloe Youngbear of Tama; an aunt, Pauline Peters of Nebraska; and an uncle, Leo D. Peters of Montour; and many other relatives in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa.
