Violet Blanche Herink, age 93, of Toledo, died on May 20, 2007 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer due to a lengthy illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Vaclav (Wenceslaus) Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 4-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Violet Blanche Herink was born on October 8, 1913, in rural Clutier, the daughter of John and Anna (Kunch) Podhajsky Sr.
On August 26, 1930, she was united in marriage to James F. Herink in St. Vaclav Church in rural Clutier. She helped her husband farm in the Clutier and Toledo area. Violet was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama and also received the sacraments in recent years from St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and the Tama County Homemakers.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James F. Herink in 1980; two brothers, John and George Podhajsky; three sisters, Mary Petra, Stella Valenta, and Vera Dolash; and one son-in-law, Frank Soska.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Soska of Waterloo; one son, James (Mary Ann) Herink Jr. of The Colony, TX; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
