Sharon Lavoie age 50 of rural Echo, MN formerly of Tama, died Thursday, June 07, 2007 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, June 9, 2007 in Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, MN. Visitation was held from 4 until 8:00 P.M. Friday in the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and Saturday one hour prior to services in Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. A prayer service was held at 7:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home in Echo. There will also be a visitation from 1 until 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 11 at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, followed by a graveside service in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.

Sharon Kay Lavoie was born June 21, 1956 in Marshalltown Iowa to LaVerne and Shirley (Hagge) Bartling. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tama, Iowa. Sharon attended South Tama School graduating from South Tama High School in 1974. She moved to Toledo, Iowa living there until moving to Marshall, Minnesota in February 1981. On September 30, 1978 she was united in marriage to Randy G. Lavoie in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, Iowa. They lived in Marshall until moving to Minneota, MN in April of 1987 and then to Echo in April of 2001. Sharon also attended Southwest Tech in Pipestone, MN and EDT in Chicago, Ill. She had worked in Bethesda Care Center in Toledo, IA from 1974 until 1981 and then in the Weiner Memorial Care Center in Marshall until 2005 when she retired due to her health. Sharon was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. She was very fond of animals all her life, taking special care of all. She loved to ride horse back, motorcycles and travel. Sharon was very artistic, painting, crafts, gardening and landscaping.

Sharon is survived by her husband Randy, her parents, LaVerne and Shirley Bartling of Tama, her daughter Sue Lynn Lavoie of Belview, MN, a “granddaughter on the way” Harley Kay, siblings; David Bartling of Tama, Bradley Bartling and wife Shannon of Tama, Donnetta Hinkle and husband Roger of Toledo, Tammy Shadden and husband Scott of Tama, and Daniel Bartling of Tama. Also surviving are two nephews Cody and Brody Bartling, three nieces Megan, Autumn and Kayla Bartling and Christine Thatcher, Crystall Lavoie and great niece Shalanaree Thatcher and great nephew Skyler Thatcher. She was preceded in death by her grandparents a niece and nephew Desiree and Danjar Thatcher.
