OBITUARY

Marvin Wood was born near Traer, IA Sept. 28, 1914; the son of Fred and Annabelle (Grapes) Wood. Marvin attended school in Traer and graduated from Dinsdale High School in the Class of 1932. After continuing his education at Iowa State University, Marvin began farming which became his lifelong occupation.

On June 14, 1945, he married Ruth Kern in Traer at the United Presbyterian Church. Marvin and Ruth made their home on the farm until October in 1976 when they retired to Traer.

Mrvin continued to lead an active life style serving as Deputy Assessor in Traer. He also worked for Funks Hybrid Seeds and for area farmers for several years. He was an avid sports fan, active in the United Presbyterian Church, member of the Hespereia Lodge for 49 years and the Tama County Farm Bureau.

More recently Marvin's health had failed and his death came Saturday, Dec. 25, 1993, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo at the age of 79.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Merrill and Donald.

Marvin is survived by his wife Ruth of Traer, his children; Dennis and Debbie Wood of Omaha, Neb., David and Carol Wood of Grundy Center, Terry and Leanne Wood of Mound, MN, Debra and Allen Clark of Salina, KS, one special daughter, Catarina Jaderberg of Bromma, Sweden, two sisters; Dorothy Dunlavey of Traer and Mrs. Earl (Gleneva) Hansen of Traer and ten grandchildren.
