OBITUARY

J. C. WOOD

J. C. Wood, 85, of rural Traer died at his home of a sudden illness Tuesday morning, Dec. 28, 1999.

Mr. Wood was born Nov. 20, 1914, in rural Traer, the son of Jay and Rrebecca (Walkup) Wood. He attended school in Traer and graduated from Traer High School.

On Jan. 30, 1942, J. C. ws united in marriage to Ruth Bowen at Omaha, Neb. J. C. then entered the US Army where he served his country during WW II with Company F, 532 E.S.B. Amphibious Regiment.

After his discharge, he returned to the Traer area where he farmed northwest of town.

He was a member of the Tama American Legion and the Hosperia Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant brother; a brother, Gordon, and a sister, Maxine Severson.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Traer; two sons and their wives, Clark and Pat Wood of Marion and Neal and Kathy Wood of Traer; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Overton Family Funeral Homes-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
