OBITUARY
LEIGH WILSON
Graveside services for Leigh Wilson, 86, of Traer, were held Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. The Rev. Rick Vesely, pastor of the Traer United Presbyterian Church, officiated.
Leigh died Jan. 20, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids of natural causes.
Leigh Wilson was born June 12, 1912, a son of Ward and Anna (Stevenson) Wilson on the "Tama Jim" homestead where he lived all of his life until entering nursing homes for his care.
He graduated from Traer High School with the class of 1931. He played on the undefeated 1929 football team. He was a member of the Tranquillity Presbyterian Church until the church was disbanded.
As an avid reader, he was especially interested in politics. (His grandfather was U.S. Agriculture Secretary "Tama Jim Wilson".)
Leigh began farming after the death of his father in 1932 and retired in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Alan Wilson; and a sister, Esther Stary.
He is survived by a niece, Cynthia Drajna and her husband, Greg and several cousing.
