OBITUARY
Evelyn r. Wilson was born December 12, 1905, in Tama County, daughter of Rawlin and Westina [Whannel] Stoakes. Evelyn received her education in Traer graduating from Traer High School. She then began teaching country school and later attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
After her graduation she began teaching music in Cedar Rapids for a time before her marriage to Carl Wilson on June 20, 1941, at the home of her parents in Traer.
Evelyn then taught vocal music in Traer High School until her retirement. After her retirement, Evelyn still stayed active teaching vocal and piano lessons for many years.
Evelyn's health failed in recent months and more recently she became a resident of the Rochester Health Care Center in Rochester, MN, where she died Tuesday morning, May 20, 1986, at the age of 80 years.
Evelyn was a member of the Ripley United Church of Christ, where she served as choir director for many years. She also served as community choir director for many years and was active in various community clubs and organizations.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Ruth and is survived by her husband Carl of Rochester; one daughter, Mrs. Eugene [Ellen] Zmolek of Rochester, MN; one sister, Mrs. Harold [Jean] Mohler of Maxwell, IA as well as three grandchildren.
