OBITUARY

ANDREW WEIR "BUD" UHLENBEERG

Andrew Weir "Bud" Uhlenberg, 82, of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of complications resulting from a stroke. Funeral services were held Monday, March 6, 2000, at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be directed to the church.

Mr. Uhlenberg was born April 19, 1917, in Marshalltown, the son of Harry J. and Inez (Hildebrand) Uhlenberg. He attended Dinsdale school for 11 years, and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1935.

On Aug. 22, 1942, he married Flora Porter at the First United Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. The couple had a dairy herd and farmed in Eagle Township for many years and upon retiring Weir sold seed com and worked for Farm Service. Weir had a love of music and sang with a Traer quartet for many years. He also sang for numerous weddings and funerals.

He was a longtime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. serving as an Elder and a member of the choir. Weir enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, taking trips with his family, dancing and playing bridge.

Until recently he led an active life involved in Associated Milk Producers Inc., the Black Hawk County Pork Producers and the Elks Lodge #290.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Carolyn Brandon.

He is survived by his wife; two sons: John and Jill Uhlenberg of La Porte City and Mark and Gail Uhlenberg of Roehester, Minn.; two daughlers, Jane and Larry Ryan and Mary and Ken Huffman, all of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Locke Funeral Home-Waterloo was in charge of arrangements.
