OBITUARY

RAYMOND TOWARNICKI

Funeral services for Raymond R. Towarnicki, 79, of Traer, were held Saturday, May 20, 2000, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer with Pastor Duane R. Lindberg officiating. Burial followed at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer, with military rites conducted by the Traer American Legion.

He died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Sunrise Hill Care & Rehab Center in Traer.

Special music for the service was provided by Jeanette Tomlinson, organist and Ted Hamer, vocalist. Casket bearers were Matthew Rausch, Joshua Rausch, Jeffrey Rausch, Jeremy Youngblood, Michael Lambert and Allen Lambert.

Raymond R. Towarnicki was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Peter and Anna (Ignace) Towarnicki. He attended grammar school in Chicago at Saint Philomena School and later graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1935.

He continued his education at Wright Jr. College, New York Trade School, Dental School at Northwestern University and Illinois University of Technology, where he obtained degrees in Metallurgy, Electrical Engineering and Dental Surgery.

Raymond interned with the United States Public Health Department at the Marine Hospital at Baltimore, MD in oral surgery and also worked two days a week at Alcatraz Prison. Raymond served his country during WW II.

On Nov. 26, 1944, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Lambert at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, lA. Raymond and Beatrice made their home all their married life in the Chicago and Franklin Park, III., area where Raymond worked in dentistry for 40 years retiring Dec. 31,1991.

The couple moved to Traer -, Sept. 22, 1997, and Raymond became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care & Rehab Center.

He was a member of St. Luke., Lutheran Church in Traer and Resurrection Lutheran Church in Franklin Park. He also held memberships in the Chicago Dental Society; Illinois State Dental Society and served as President of West Side Branch CDS in 1970-71 and 1980-81.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Traer and many nieces and nephews.

Overton Family Funeral Homes- Traer was in charge of the arrangements.
