OBITUARY
EVELYN G. THEDE
Funeral services for Evelyn G. Thede, 82, were held Tuesday morning, Jan. 27, 1998, from the United Church of Christ, Reinbeck. Pastor Joel Love officiated. Burial was in the Reinbeck Cemetery.
A memorial fund is being established. Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, was in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn died Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 1998, at Covenant Medical Center, Waaterloo, where she was admitted Jan. 18. She had been in failing health for a year.
Evelyn was born Aug. 29, 1915, at Reinbeck, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Irene (Frier) Lueders. She attended country schools near Traer.
In 1937 she was united in marriage to Rex Barnes. She was united in marriage a second time to Raymond Thede of Reinbeck on Sept. 7, 1973. They were married at the united Church of Christ in Reinbeck.
She was employed for over 60 years doing housework for other people and she cleaned the bank in Traer for over 40 years. She was forced to retire when her health started to deteriorate.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Reinbeck.Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Harold in 1991; and a step-grandchild, Jesse D. in 1981.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond of Reinbeck; two sons, Verlyn Barnes of St. Louis Park, MN; and Paul Barnes and his wife, Reta of Clinton, IA; two stepsons, Melvin Thede and Russell Thede, both of Reinbeck; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; one brother, Warren Lueders of Valley Center, CA, as well as more distant relatives.
