OBITUARY

Elmer E. Taylor was born July 31, 1906, at Traer, Iowa, son of Elmer and Ella [Canfield] Taylor. Elmer attended school at Traer and continued his education at the Missouri University School of Journalism. Elmer returned home and joined his father and brother Harry E. Taylor as co-owners of the family newspaper, The Traer Star-Clipper.

Elmer married Ethel Schreiber in 1931 and they made their home in Traer all their married life. Elmer was always active in community affaIrs. He helped form and became a charter member of the Traer Lions Club and was stilI active in the club, which recently honored him for 55 years of service to the community. During his career Elmer became a Master Editor joining his father and brother, making the Traer Star-Clipper the only newspaper in Iowa with three Master Editors.

In the early 30's Elmer expanded the business by forming the Star-Clipper Travel Bureau, serving area groups and residents with travel plans.

On January 1 of this year Elmer retired because of failing health and was a resident of Sunrise HilI Care Center for only 2-1/2 days. His death came Saturday, January 4, 1986, at the age of 79 years.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and is survived by his wife Ethel; his daughter, Mrs. Betty Lane of Palm Desert, CalIf.; as well as two granddaughters and two great- granddaughters.
