OBITUARY
ALICE TANNER
Funeral services for Alice K. Tanner, 75, of Traer, were held Monday, Dec. 6, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer with burial in Buckingham Cemetery. Alice died Friday, Dec. 3, 1993, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
The Rev. Donald Scoeppler officiated the service with Mrs. Wesley Tomlinson serving as organist and Wayne Dunlavey was vocalist.
Casket bearers were Larry Catherwood Craig Aswegan, Kevin Mannschreck, Mike Bradley, Mark Bradley and Marvin Christiansen. Tending to floral arrangements were Dorothy Stuart and Gladys Ludvichek.
Alice K. Tanner was born July 24, 1918, at Dinsdale Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Agenes (Lyndon) Briggs. As a child Alice moved to Traer where she attended Traer school.
She was united in marriage to Frank Tanner on April 17, 1935, and the couple made their home in Traer all their married life. Alice was employed for 20 years at Funks Seed Corn Company and later worked at the Colonial Cafe and the Town House Restaurant.
Alice continued to make her home at 215 Second Street following her husband's death Sept. 28, 1989.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Frank; one son, Johnny; three brothers, Sam, Lynus and Leroy "Tunny".
She is survived by one son, Kent of New Albin; four daughters, Darlene Bradley, Mrs. Don (Patty ) Lewis, Karen Mannschreck, all of Traer and Mrs. Lawrence (Brenda) Catherwood of Whitten; a granddaughter, Vicky Tanner, who was raised in the Tanner home; two brothers, Wilson Briggs of Traer and William "Bill Briggs of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Gladys Childs of Traer; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Overgton Family Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
