OBITUARY
BARBARA STREITTMATTER
Funeral services for Barbara Alicebell Streittmatter, 66, of La Porte City, and formerly of Traer were held at the Overton Funeral Home in Traer Friday morning, July 23, 1999, with the Rev. Tom Zeleny, pastor of St. Paul United Meethodist Church officiating.
Barbara died Tuesday, July 20, 1999 at Covenant Skilled Care Center in Waterloo.
Music for the service was provided by Mary Nelson, organist and Wayne Dunlavey, vocalist.
Flowers were tended to by Mr. and Mrs. Jake Froehlich, Marian Gruchow, and Maxine Briggs.
Barbara A. Streittmatter was born Nov. 9, 1932 at Buckingham, IA, the daughter of Burton and Marguerite (Dalziel) Romick.
She received her education in Traer graduating from high school in the class of 1950.
On Aug. 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to Myrl Fleming at Traer. After the couple divorced Barbara continued to live and work in Traer.
On Nov. 27, 1971, Barbara married Ernest Streittmatter and they made their home in Traer until Ernest's death Feb. 19, 1992.
In 1933 Barbara moved to make here home in La Porte City.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Ernest.
Barbara is survived by one daughter, Debra Hansen of La Porte City; three sons, Paul Fleming of Traer, Scott Fleming of Rowlett, TX and Cory Fleming of Washington, IA; five step-daughters, Dana Henahan of Lawrence, KS, Tamura Harper of Roanoke, VA; Elizabeth Kidd and Regina Jordon, both of Salem, VA, and Mia Farmer of Moneta, VA; two brothers, Bruce Romick of Oklahoma City, OK and John Romick of Marion, IA; one sister, Phyllis Zager of Waterloo; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren.
