OBITUARY

AGNES STRATTON

Funeral services for Agenes Stratton, 92, of Traer, were held Wednesday, May 24, 1995, at the Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer with burial in Oakland Cemetery, Beaman, IA. Special services were conducted by the Toledo Rebekah Lodge #106.

Mrs. Stratton died at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer on Sunday, May 21, 1995.

The Rev. Mark Binder officiated at the service with Judy Mason serving as organist and Charlene Cufr, vocalist.

Active casket bearers were Michael Cufr, Ernie Cufr, Pat Pinkston, Bruce Morrison, Scott Cufr and Jerry Cufr. Honorary bearers included Daniel Stratton, Mike Pinkston, Tim Pinkston, Ron Cufr and Randy Cufr.

Sheila and Dick Bird and Dawn and Rick Mason were in charge of floral arrangements.

Agnes Stratton was born Feb. 26, 1903, three months after her father's death of typhoid at Traer, Iowa. She was the daughter of Wesley C. and Fannie (Josifek) Vlasak. Agnes attended school in Traer and graduated from Traer High School in the Class of 1921.

On Feb. 19, 1923, she was united in marriage to Cyril Cufr and they later divorced. On June 18, 1953, she married Calvin Stratton in Oregon and the couple made their home there until his death in 1974. Agenes then returned to Traer to make her home where she has lived since.

She was a member of the Toledo Rebekah Lodge #307.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one daughter, Alma Morrison and one sister.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Emil and Marjorie Cufr of Traer, Wesley and Lauretta Cufr of Waterloo and Frank and Judy Cufr of Beloit, Wis.; two daughters, Sylvia Pinkston of Traer and Mary Stratton of Portland, OR; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
