OBITUARY
Elizabeth Earley Byrnes Smithburg was born in Traer, IA on February 26, 1910, the daughter of Frank C. and Eva (Stevenson) Earley. She received her education in Traer graduating in the class of 1927. Elizabeth then continued her education at Coe College graduating in 1931.
Elizabeth worked in Cedar Rapids before here marriage to Dr. Allen Byrnes on December 25, 1934 at her parents home in Traer. They made their home in communities in the midwest while Allen was a doctor for the Veterans Administration.
While Allen served his country during WW II, Elizabeth worked in Chicago and Richland, MI until his discharge.
In 1970 they moved to Sun City, AZ where Allen's death came in November of 1971.
In Jan. of 1980 Elizabeth married Pearl Smithburg. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, and golf with many of their friends.
Elizabeth was a 50-year member of the Bona Dea Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star & a member of Peoria Chapter of the OES. She was also a life member of the AAUW and a member of the Daughters of the Nile, White Shrine.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Allen, one brother Steve, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband Pearl of Peoria, AZ, two daughters; Eva Ann Elmer of Burlington, IA and Barbara Redington of Zion, IL, a step-daughter Mary Ann Holbrook of Scottscdale, AZ, one step-son William Smithburg of Chicago, IL, six grandchildren, five step-grandchidren and six great-grandchildren.
