OBITUARY

GRACE L. SIEVERS

Grace L. Sievers, 92, of Friendship Village in Waterloo and formerly of Traer, died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following an extended illness.

A private family service was held Friday, March 23, 2001, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

Grace Luverne Sievers was born April 21, 1908, at Esterville, IA the daughter of Clyde and Leona (Simpson) Butcher. She received her education in Watertown, SD graduating in 1925.

She worked as a secretary until her marriage to Harry L. Sievers on Oct. 20, 1929, at Waterloo. They made their home in Waterloo until 1940, when Harry entered the US Army. During this time they traveled and lived in several locations, but always maintained a home in Waterloo.

In 1962 they retired to Vienna, VA for a time before moving to Rancho Bernardo, CA where Harry's death came in 1977.

Grace later moved back to Iowa to be near her family.

She was a member of DAR, PEO, TTT and the Federated Women's Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one brother and three sisters.

Grace is survived by one son, Harry J. Sievers of LeClaire, IA; one daughter, Barbara Bauch of Traer; three sisters, Norine Henaman of Loveland, CO, Marcella Wiseman of Ringsted, IA and Shirley Morton of California; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
