OBITUARY

Alida Sievers was born May 29, 1907 in rural Lincoln, Iowa; the daughter of William and Wilhelmena (Thomsen) Billerbeck. Alida received her education in country school and worked for area families in their homes.

On December 25, 1931 she was united in marriage to Harold Sievers at Waterloo, Iowa and they made their home farming north of Garwin. In 1953 they moved to a farm south of Traer until 1967 when they retired to their home at 811 4th Street in Traer.

After Harold's death on November 6, 1987 Alida continued to make her home in Traer and in January of 1989 became a resident of the Sunrise Hill CAre Center in Traer. Alida's death came at the care center on Thursday morning October 30, 1997 at the age of 90 years.

She was a member of the Traer United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, one grandson Gary Sievers in 1977, one sister Lila, three brothers; Harry, Leonard and Marvin.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Sievers of Marshalltown and Donald Sievers of Lisbon, Iowa, one daughter; Joyce (Mrs Bill) Hite of Traer, two sisters; Alice Hoppe and Frances Froistad both of Gladbrook, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
