OBITUARY
Helen M. Sash was born on August 17, 1911, the daughter of Gottlieb and Marie (Sidler) Barney in Marengo, Iowa. she received her education in Lutheran School in Waterloo, IA.
On February 7, 1930 Helen marrried John Howard Reeder in Decorah, IA. They spent the first par tof their married life running a telephone exchange service in West Bend, IA. Later they moved to make their home in Cedar Falls where Helen was a homemaker and worked for Powers Manufacturing until 1975.
After Howard's death on June 21, 1979 Helen continued to live in Cedar Falls until her marriage to Vernon Sash on August 15, 1982 in Nashua, IA. They made their home on the farm near La Porte City.
Recently Helen became ill and was a patient at Allen Memorial Hospital when her death came on December 22, 1993 at the age of 82.
She was a member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women & Church Circle.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, one son Leslie, two brothers; Otto and Bob.
She is survived by her husband Vernon of La Porte City, one son Dennis Reeder of Portland, OR, two step-sons; Roger Sash of Omaha, NE and David Sash of Dysart, one daughter Colleen Bachman of Waterloo, one step-daughter Shirley Kleene of Spirit Lake, LA, one brother Art Barney of Milwaukee, WI, two sisters; Marie Wisbeck and Lois Swope of CA, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.
