OBITUARY

Rudy Podhajsky was born June 9, 1914; the son of James G. and Mary (NachazeI) Podhajsky on a farm south of Traer, Iowa. He attended country school at Perry #4 and later graduated from Traer High School. He then began farming with his father.

On June 25, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II. After his discharge on November 16, 1945 he returned to farming at Traer.

On February 26, 1952 he married Louise Kolash at Chelsea, Iowa and they made their home and farmed all their married life southwest of Traer. Rudy retired in 1976 and continued to help on the farm.

He became ill at his home early Thursday and was admitted to Covenant Medical Center where his death came that morning February 29, 1996 at the age of 81 years.

Rudy was an active member of the Kubik-Finch Post #142 in Traer and served as bar manager for 34 years. He was also a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Traer and the KD Lodge. Rudy was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and liked to play cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; William and Jimmy and three sisters; Agnes, Emma and Mary.

He is survived by his wife Louise and one brother Milo of Traer and several nieces and nephews.

Following the committal services at the cemetery there will be a private family gathering in the church fellowship hall.
