OBITUARY

Sylvia Barbara Podhajsky was born December 3, 1910 near Traer, IA: the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Hanus) Chalupnik She receIved her education in Carroll Township attending Carroll school #2 and graduating 8th grade. Sylvia Then worked at home on the farm until she was united in marriage to James A. Podhajsky on October 4, 1932 at St. Wenceslaus Calholic Church at Clutier, IA. They made their home farming southwest of Traer for many years and in November of 1975 they moved into Traer al 508 9th Street.

Sylvia enjoyed her family and loved to have the family get together so she could cook for them. When able, she enjoyed her country church, her garden and raising chickens. Her life centered around her family, friends and walking her dog Brandy.

Following Jimmy's death on October 26, 1993, Sylvia continued to live at home in Traer until becoming a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in January of 1995. She belonged to the Immmaculate Conception Rosary Society of Clutier, Catholic Workman No. 130, and the Legion Auxiliary of Traer. Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, husband James and a sister Mayme.

She is survived by two sons: Ernie and his wife Lillian Podhajsky of Traer and Lawerance Podhajsky also of Traer a daughter: Marilyn (Mrs. Bill) Weil of Golden, CO. three step-grandchildren: Dave, Brenda and Sue, and five step-great-grandchildren.

Following the service family and friends are invited to attend the luncheon at the IC Social Center in Clutier.
