OBITUARY

VIRGIL PLOGMAN

Private family services for Virgil A. Plogman, 75, of Vinton, and formerly of Traer, were held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Overton Funderal Home in Traer with the Rev. Mark Urlaub of the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vinton officiating.

Burial was at West Union Cemetery, rural Traer.

He died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

Virgil A. Plogman was born July 1, 1922 at Traer, the son of Roy and Nora (Puls) Plogman. He received his education in Tama and Benton Counties and then worked as a hired hand for area farmers before beginning to farm with his brother, Lester.

On Sept. 27, 1962, he was united in marriage to Helen Sonkens at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. Virgil and Helen made their home for a short time on a farm near Reinbeck before moving to make their home on a farm east of Traer for 25 years.

After Virgil's retirement in 1985 they moved to Vinton, where they have lived since.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Violet Thies.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Helen of Vinton; one son, Brian and his wife, Kathy of Walford; one brother, Lester of Traer; two sisters, Irene Plogman of Denver, IA, and Marian Plogman of Independence; and two grandchildren.
