OBITUARY

DOROTHY M. PECENKA

A Funeral Liturgy for Mrs. Harry (Dorothy M.) Pecenka, 71, of Traer, will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at 10;30 a. m. at St. Paul Calholic Church in Traer with burial in the church cemetery. A vigil service will be held at Hand's Funeral Chapel in Tama at 7 p. m. Wednesday evening. Friends may call at Hand Funeral Chapel after 9 a. m. Wednesday morning.

She died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Monday, Aug. 25, 1997, after being stricken by a stroke Sunday afternoon at her home.

Dorothy M. Pecenka was born Oct. 8, 1925, at Vining, lA, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Kopriva) Valenta. She received her schooling at Voorhies, lA, and then attended Traer High School and graduated with the Class of 1943.

On Nov. 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to Harry E. Pecenka of Toledo at Immaculate Conception Church at Blessing. The couple farmed near Voorhies for three and a half years, then moved to their present farm 10 miles southwest of Traer. In 1995 they moved into Traer.

Mrs. Pecenka was a member of SI. Paul Catholic Church and Rosary Society, the Traer Garden Club and was a past member of lowana Club.

Preceding her in death were two grandchildren; her parents and a sister, Vivian.

She is survived by her husband, Harry E. of Traer; and eight children, Mrs. Jeff (Kathryn) Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Steve (Vicki) Ohde of Cedar Rapids; Barbara Pecenka of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Ward (Terri) Johnson of St. Louis Park, Minn,; Bruce Pecenka and wife Pam of Galesburg, IL; Brian Pecenka and wife Teresa of Castaic, Calif.; Mrs. Craig (Cheryl) Woodley of Kimberly, Wis., and Mrs. Michael (Lori) Christensen of Coral Springs, FL; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorial may be directed to the Traer Ambulance Fund or North Tama Community School Fund.
