OBITUARY

LOLA PAUL

Lola Paul, 87, of Odebolt, IA, and formerly of Traer, died at the Ash Flat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat, Ark., on Thursday, April 9, 1998. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Odebolt on Tuesday, April 14, 1998, officiated by the Rev. Charles Bulger. Burial was in the Odebolt Cemetery in Odebolt. Music for the service was provided by Carol Raasch, organist and Rick and Barb Votrobeck, duet.

Casket bearers were Scott Paul, Daniel Paul, Robert Sloan, Steven Sloan, David Sloan, Fred Wieck and Michael Paul. Floral tributes were cared for by JoAnn Scott, Arlene Fineran and Phyllis Krusenstjerna.

Lola Irene Paul was born April 12, 1910, in Odebolt, the daughter of Chris J. and Anna L. (Cowlham) Sonksen. She attended Wheeler #7 school through the eighth grade and graduated from Odebolt High School in 1928. Lola then attended business school in Omaha, Neb.

On April 25, 1929, she was united in marriage to Milton A. Paul in Council Bluffs, lA. The couple lived in Odebolt until 1944 when they moved to Traer, returning to Odebolt in 1961.

Lola was a dedicated member of the Federated Women's Club, the Presbyterian Women's Society, the Mary Elizabeth Guild and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed her hobbies of knitting and crocheting.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Milton A. Paul on June 13, 1996; her parents; one daughter, Wanda Wieck; one sister, Donna Legan and one brother, Marvin "Bud" Sonksen.

Lola is survived by one daughter Betty and her husband, Don Buchanan of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one son, Tom and his wife, Laura of Cherokee Village, Ark.; and a son-in-Iaw, Rudy Wieck of Traer; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Ferne Chester of Odebolt.
