OBITUARY

GILBERT PAUSTIAN

Funeral services for Gilbert J. Paustian, 77, of Traer, were held Saturday, March 5, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer with burial in Buckingham Cemetary. Mr. Paustian died at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center on Thursday, March 3,1994. The Rev. Donald Schoeppler officiated at the service. Mrs. Wesley Tomlinson was organist with Mrs. Burdell Staker serving as vocalist.

Casket bearers were Justin Paustian, Mika Bogue, Steve Blocker, Jerry Strickler, Steve Paustian and Duane Jaschen. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hagge served on the flower commIttee.

Gilbert Paustian was born July 22, 1915, northwest of Traer, the son of James and Ella (Mildenstein) Paustian. He received his education in country school near Traer and then farmed with his father and also helped other farmers in the area.

He was united in marrIage to Edith Bentley at the Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo on Jan. 18, 1939. The couple made their home at 404 4th Street in Traer and Gilbert was employed at John Deere in Waterloo until his retirement in 1970.

In his spare time, Gilbert enjoyed many hours playing cards with family and friends.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was one brother, Walter and one sister, Lily.

Surviving are his wife, Edith; one son, Ronnie of Grinnell; two daughters, Betty Erickson of Longview, Waterloo; and Joyce Pauatian of Waterloo; five grandchildren and one-great-grandchild.

Overton Funeral Home, Traer was in charge of arrangements.
