OBITUARY

HAROLD MOHLER

Funeral services for Harold E. Mohler, 81, of Maxwell, Iowa, were held Saturday, Jan. 26 at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell. Burial was at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. Harold died Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, of complications of multiple sclerosis.

A masonic service was held Friday evening, Jan. 25.

Born June 8, 1909 at Toledo, he was the son of E. Lynn and Edna (Aldrich) Mohler. He grew up in the Traer area, and graduated from Traer High School in 1927. He attended Iowa State University, did Extension work in Emmet and Palo Alto Counties, and farmed in the Traer area for several years.

Married to Jean Stoakes on April 1, 1931, at Anamosa, the couple moved to Maxwell in 1940, where they have since resided. Harold was a farmer and supervisor for John Deere Des Moines Works until retirement.

Harold was a member of the United Methodist Church in Maxwell, of Herald Lodge #455, A.F.&A.M., and Za Ga Zig Shrine in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Harold West Mohler on May 18, 1944, and by two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Mohler of Maxwell; a son, Richard Mohler of Maxwell, and a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Roberta) Viers, also of Maxwell; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard A. Mohler of Sebring, FL; three sisters, Verna Walker of Minneapolis, MN, and Juanita Neubert of Bismarck, ND.
