OBITUARY

ELMER "SKEET" MILLER

Services for Elmer "Skeet" Miller, 85, of Traer are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Traer, with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial will be at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 and Friday morning after 8 a.m. until the service.

"Skeet" died Monday. Nov. 24, 1997, at Sunrise Hill Care Center io Traer following an extended illness. Elmer "Skeet" Miller was born May 16, 1912 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the son of Irvine and Delia (Stevens) Miller. Skeet received his education in the Grundy County area, and on Dec. 16, 1936 he was united in marriage to Valentine Roberts at Dixon, IL.

Skeet and Vally made thcir home on a farm near Traer before they moved to Oelwein where they resided for six years. In 1948 they returned to Traer where Skeet operated an excavating business for many years until his retirement.

Vally died July 8, 1984, and Skeet continued to make his home in Traer, moving to Sunrise Hill Care Center on Sept. 3, 1993.

He is survived by one son, Dean of Waverly; three daughters, Judy Baych of Manchester, Janet Dreesen of Morristown, Ariz., and Kathy Grant of Conrad; two sisters, Thelma Hemphill of Marshalltown and Wanda Gulbranson of Moorhead, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.
