OBITUARY
Mildred K. Mitchell was born on May 13, 1913 at Blue Springs, Missouri; the daughter of Joe and Carrie (Putnam) Carr. Mildred attended school at Garden Grove Iowa where she graduated from high school. She taught country school for two years and then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She returned to teaching, and on March 28, 1936 she was united in marriage to Robert Mitchell at Omaha, Nebraska. Together, they made their home farming in Geneseo Township.
After Mildred had raised her family she returned to college and began teaching in Waterloo. In free moments Mildred enjoyed her family, friends and was active in her church. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, the Retired Teachers Association, a former member of the Fine Arts Club in Dysart and the Geneseo United Methodist Women's Circle.
In retirement Mildred and Robert made their home in Dysart where Mildred's death came on Thursday, November 16, 1995 at the age of 82.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters; Helen and Nadine.
She is survived by her husband; Robert Mitchell of Dysart, a son; Dennis Mitchell of Buckingham, two daughters; Claudette (Mrs. George) Sharp and Norma (Mrs. Jerry) Owens both of Dysart, a sister; Hazel Condra of Los Angles, CA, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
