OBITUARY
RUTH HOEPPNER
Services for Ruth Hoeppner, 79, of Traer were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Traer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marshall Monthei officiating. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. A memorial fund has been established.
She died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following an extended illness.
Casket bearers were Ralph Shinn, Jake Froehlich, Harold Vorba, Larry Nachazel, Les Sevcik and Cecil Rasmussen. Flowers were tended to by Ruth Holst, Sue Nachazel, Coy Shinn, Gladys Ludvichek and Sally Sevcik.
Music was provided by Jolene Edwards, organist and Wayne Dunlavey, vocalist.
Ruth Marie Hoeppner was born Sep. 27, 1921, at Dysart, the daughter of Fred William and Rose Julia (Dostal) Powell. She received her education at Traer, graduating in the class of 1938.
After graduation she worked at the D. H. Hyland Insurance Agency.
On April 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Earl H. Hoeppner at Whitten, IA. The couple made their home in Traer all their married life.
Ruth worked for a time with Earl at the Traer Sales Company.
In her spare time she enjoyed working with flowers and spending time in the garden.
Preceding her in death were her parents and daughter, Jean Marie.
Surviving Ruth are her husband, Earl of Traer, a daughter, Jane Seeley and husband Jim of Cedar Falls; two grandsons and a brother, Kenneth Powell of Traer.
