OBITUARY
MARGARET HIMSCHOOT
Funeral services for Margaaret Deacon Himschoot, 85, of Buckingham, were held Thursday, Nov. 11 at Geneseo United Methodist Church, rural Buckingham. Burial was at the Geneseo Church Cemetery. She died Monday, Nov. 8 [1993] at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer after a long illness.
The Rev. Dianne Grier officiated at the church service, and Mrs. Robert Pritchard served as organist. Casket bearers were Steven Himschoot, Brian Himschoot, Alan Himschoot, Robert Himschoot Jr, Scott Hamilton and Patrick Hamilton. Tending to floral tributes were Mr. and Mrs. Orville Beenken and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Stuart.
Margaret Himschoot was born May 6, 1908, at Brooklyn, the daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Deacon) Scott. She received her education in country school at Bearcreek Number 2 near Brooklyn, and attended Brooklyn High School.
On Feb. 15, 1927, Margaret married Adolph Himschoot at Waverly and they made their home on a farm near Brooklyn. In 1940 they moved to a farm near Buckingham.
Margaret was employed as a nurse's aide at Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. The couple lived for many years in Buckingham, and she continued to reside there after Adolph's death, which came May 10, 1989. She became a resident at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer on Nov. 1, 1989.
Margaret was a member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, three brothers and two granddaughters.
She is survived by two sons, Neal of Buckingham and Robert Sr of Bethel, Alaska; a daughter, Leah J. Hamilton of Des Moines; one brother, Wallace Scott of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established. Visitation was held at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, Wednesday from noon to 8 pm.
