OBITUARY

MARIE HACH

Funeral services for Marie J. Hach, 94, of Traer were held Tuesday morning, July 7, 1998, at the Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer with the Rev. Sheryl Campbell officiating. Burial was in National Cemetery, Vining, IA.

She died Friday, July 3, 1998, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. Music for the service was provided by Judy Mason, organist and Cynthia Martinez and Debra Beveridge, vocalists. Casket bearers were Greg Beveridge, David Pokorny, Steven Pokorny, Gary Hach, Larry Hach, Patrick Harrison, Bill Humphrey and Kevin Pokorny. Flowers were tended to by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hach and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Degner.

Marie Josie Hach was born Oct. 21, 1903, in Velka Ves, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Semrod) Marinec. Marie attended school in Tuhavec, Czechoslovakia and at the age of 17 she moved to the United States. She worked as a housekeeper in Dysart and Cedar Rapids before her marriage to William Hach on Feb. 20, 1924 at Cedar Rapids.

Marie and William made their home farming southwest of Dysart until their retirement in 1953 when they moved to Traer. Marie enjoyed spending time in her garden and with her flowers. She was active in the Ripley United Church of Christ, the WFLA Lodge in Clutier and the American Legion Auxiliary. Following William's death on , May 14, 1981, she continued to make her home in Traer.

On May 12, 1993, she became a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William; one daughter, Gladys Pokorny in 1995; a son in infancy; two brothers, Karl and Frank and a half sister, Stella Matthiessen.

Marie is survived by two sons and their wives, Melvin and Marcella Hach and Wilbert and Irene Hach; a son-in-law, Ernest Pokorny, all of Dysart; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
