OBITUARY

Helen Joan Young was born April 6, 1932 at Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Gustav and Louise (Graff) Wiese. She attended school in Tama and graduated from Tama High School in the Class of 1949.

Helen was then united in marriage to Richard D. Young on December 10, 1949 at Tama. They made their home in Traer where they raised six children and for a time Helen worked as a waitress.

In free moments Helen enjoyed traveling with Dick and going on fishing trips.

In recent months Helen had been in failing health and was residing at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where her death came on Monday, June 11, 2001 at the age of 69 years.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick in March of 2001, a son Daniel and a sister Norma Papesh. She is survived by four sons: Tom Young of Heyworth, IL, Steve Young of Cedar Rapids, IA, Randy Young of Eldora, IA and Kevin Young of Marshalltown, IA, a daughter, Karen Abell of Tahoka, TX, 4 sisters: Hazel Chaloupek of Tama, IA, Elsie Shearer of Montezuma, IA, Wilma Wilson of Lincoln, NE, and Betty Young of Hudson, IAs, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren

Following committal services at the cemetery, family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
