OBITUARY

James Preston Vokoun was born in Waterloo, Iowa on September 13, 1948, the son of Donald J. and Carolyn (Bradley) Vokoun. Jim graduated from North Tama High School in Traer, in the class of 1966 and then continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in the Class of 1971. Jim then joined the Vokoun Motor Company, his family's business in Traer.

On August 21, 1971 Jim was united in marriage to Kris Johnson in Des Moines. Jim and Kris have made their home in Traer where they raised their two children Amy and Jesse.

In free moments Jim enjoyed bowling, golfing, UNI and Iowa sports, and was an avid NASCAR fan. Special times were spent with family and friends at the family lake home in the Lake of the Ozarks.

Jim's death came suddenly, June 26, 2004, at Littleton, Colorado at the age of 55 years. Jim is preceded in death by his father Donald, and is survived by his wife Kris and his mother Carolyn both of Traer, one daughter Amy Vokoun of West Des Moines, and one son Jesse of Merrian, KS, and one sister Dalona and her husband Corky Feuerbach of Ackley, IA.

Following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon in the Traer Memorial Building.
