OBITUARY

Funeral services for Clarence R. Villont, 72, of Traer, are scheduled for Thursday morning, Oct. 8, at 10:30 am at the Traer United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. Clarence died Monday, Oct. 5, 1992, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

Officiating at the funeral service will be the Revs. Dan and Martha Anderson. Organist is Judy Mason. Casket bearers will be Robert Engel, Dennis Manfull, Jim Owens, Jay Owens, Louis Marino and Walter Huffaker. Ruth Ann Owens, Wanda Wieck and Barbara Engel will tend to floral arrangements. Military rites will be provided by the Traer American Legion Post.

Clarence R. Villont was born at Bussey, Iowa, May 19, 1920, the son of Alfred and Grace (Lennie) Villont. He received his education at Bussey, graduating in the Class of 1937. He continued his education at Coe College, receiving his drgree in education in 1942. He entered the US Army and served his country in the European Theater during World War II. He was discharged in October 1945 and returned to Bussey to teach the remainder of the year.

Clarence then began teaching at Union, Iowa, where he met and married Norma Jones Nov. 27, 1946. The couple returned to Bussey, where he was principal and later superintendent. He received his Masters Degree in School Administration from Drake University in 1952.

Clarence served as high school principal and later as superintendent at Chariton, then was elementary principal at Exira. In 1964, the couple moved to Traer, where he became elementary principal at North Tama. He retired in 1979.

In his spare time, Clarence enjoyed studying the history of coal mining. He served several years on the Traer Library Board and was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, the Pewter Society and was a life member of the National Educational Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Norma (Gerry) of Traer; one son, Jay of West Union; a daughter, Connie Villont of ... (balance of article missing)
