OBITUARY

Funeral services for Richard "Keith" Thompson, 81, of Traer were held Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Overton Funeral Home in Traer with burial at 2 pm Tuesday afternoon at Concord Cemetery, Plano, IA. Mr. Thompson died Friday, Nov. 20, 1992, at his home in rural Traer. Officiating at the service was the Rev. James Edwards with Judy Mason serving as organist.

Honorary casket bearers were Mike Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Dawn Tobin, Ann Thompson, Barbara Thompson, Kari Thompson and Jennie Thompson. Floral arrangements were handled by Mr. and Mrs. Max Nelsen Sr, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hulme.

Richard Keith Thompson was born Nov. 14, 1911, at Centerville, Iowa, the son of O. O. and Nora (Moore) Thompson. He received his education at Centerville graduating from Centerville High School in 1931 and became employed at Hawkeye Lumber Company in Centerville.

On Nov. 22, 1935, Keith was united in marriage to Doris Wilma Ball at Preston, MN and the couple made their home in Centerville until Keith became employed by the Rock Island Railroad for a time. He then returned to the lumber business and they lived in the communities of Eldon, Shell Rock, Colfax, Owasa, Iowa Falls, and New London.

The couple retired in Traer in 1973 and he continued working for the Farmers Lumber Company. After his wife's death on Dec. 6, 1973, he continued to make his home in this community, where he was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Doris; his parents; one brother, Marvin and one sister, Wanda Christie.

He is survived by three sons, Dick and his wife, Shirley, of Traer; William and his wife, Jane, of Ripley, MN; and Dan and his wife, Audrey, of Denver, IA; one sister, Elaine of Chula Vista, CA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
