OBITUARY
A Funeral Liturgy was celebrted for Catharyn Greiner, 85, of Reinbeck at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center, Tuesday, March 12, 1996. Burial was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Reinbeck, IA. A vigil service was held Monday evening at the French-Hand Funeral Chapel in Reinbeck.
Catharyn died at her home March 10, 1996, following a lengthy illness of cancer.
Father John Kissling served as celebrant of the liturgy with John Engels, lector, Jeff and Kelly Greiner, Mass servers, and John and Maxine Engels, gift bearers.
Music was provided by Connie Huffman, organist, Steve Tscherter, song leader and Wayne Dunlavey, soloist. Ushers were Robert Greiner, Kenny Greiner, and Russell Greiner.
Casket bearers were Mike Cooper, John Cooper, Joel Larsen, Alan Fleming, Bradley Greiner, Rodney Greiner and David Hulme. Honorary bearers were Robert Greiner, Russell Greiner, Kenny Greiner, Carol Sedlmayr and Berniece Blong
Catharyn Mary Greiner was born at Roseville, IA, Sept. 27, 1910, the daughter of John and Josephine (Gerhard) Reis.
On Oct. 8, 1931, she married Joseph Greiner. Catharyn and Joe made their home at Charles City, IA until 1935 when they moved to the Reinbeck area. The couple farmed and lived on the farm west of Dinsdale the rest of their married lives.
Catharyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and in her free moments enjoyed fishing, Bingo, cards and marbles.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph in March 1986; a son, Donald, in 1935; her parents, two sisters, Edna Reis and Theresa Kramer; and two brothers, Lewis and Virgil.
She is survived by four daughters and their spouses, JoAnn and Leland Hulme of Traer, Darlene and Dick Fleming of Marion; Lucille and David Swaim of Drakesville, IA, and Donna and Dean Larsen of Reinbeck; two sons and their wives, Dale and Bea Greiner of Reinbeck and Dennis and Pat Greiner, also of Reinbeck; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; one sister Magdalene Greiner of Reinbeck and one brother, Earl Reis of Charles City, IA.
