OBITUARY
A Funeral Mass for Libbie Podhajsky, 91, of Traer, was celebrated Tuesday morning, Jan. 4, 2000 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with the Rev. John Tilp officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery. A 4 pm rosary was recited Monday, Jan. 3, at Overton Funeral Home in Traer.
Libbie died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer after suddenly becoming ill.
Casket bearers were Jeff Austin, Ernie Zmolek, Tom Adamek, Ed Graves, Loren Rebik and Dennis Wrage. Mass cards were tended to by Marlys Cizek and Barbara Novotny. Music for the funeral service was provided by Bonnie Kopriva, organist and the St. Paul Church choir.
Libbie Helen Podhajsky was born April 19, 1908, in rural Toledo, the daughter of Frank and Lena (Kupka) Rebik. She received her education in country school.
Libbie married Edward Pecenka at Holy Trinity Catholic Church south of Clutier and the couple made their home farming south of Traer until Ed's death in the spring of 1968.
On Jan. 26, 1971, she married Milo Podhajsky at St. Paul Catholic Church at Traer. Libbie and Milo made their home in Traer where Libbie enjoyed cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with children of all ages and was active selling Avon products for 25 years.
Libbie was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Rosary Society. She was honored this past year for being a member of the Catholic Society of Foresters for 60 years.
In recent years Libbie and Milo had been spending their winters at Sunrise Hill Care Center.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, Edward; a brother, Albert and three sisters, Minnie Strachota, Mayme Zmolek and Rose A. Parizek.
She is survived by her husband, Milo of Traer and several nephews and nieces.
Overton Family Funeral Home-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
