OBITUARY

A Funeral Liturgy for Harry E. Pecenka, 77, of Traer, was celebrated Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at St. Paul Church in Traer with the Rev. John Tilp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids of a brief illness.

Harry Earl Pecenka was born April 10, 1923, the son of Joseph S. and Helen (Donaldson) Pecenka. He received his education in Toledo country schools and graduated from Traer High School in 1942.

On Nov. 10, 1949, he was married to Dorothy M. Valenta. The couple farmed near Voorhies for three and a half years, then moved to a farm 10 miles southwest of Traer. In 1995 they moved to Traer.

Harry was a charter member of the E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Associaation) #1345 and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Dorothy in 1997; two grandchildren and a brother, Donald.

Surviving are eight children, Kathryn (Mrs. Jeff) Pecenka Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, Vicki (Mrs. Steve) Ohde of Cedar Rapids, Barbara of Minneapolis, MN, Terry (Mrs. Ward) Johnson of St. Louis Park, MN, Bruce and his wife, Pam of Galesburg, IL, Brian and his wife, Teresa of Castaic, CA. Cheryl (Mrs. Craig) Woodley of Milwaukee, WI and Lori (Mrs. Michael) Christensen of Coral Springs, FL; one sister, Darlene (Mrs. Murray) Monroe of Traer and 11 grandchildren.
