OBITUARY

Maxine F. Martin of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Traer, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am, Thursday, March 29, at Traer United Methodist Church with burial in Crystal Cemetery, rural Toledo. Visitation hours are from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, March 28 at Overton Funeral Home in Traer.

Maxine Frankie Martin was born June 12, 1912, at Buckingham, IA, the daughter of Frank and Marionne (Petersen) Dickey. At an early age she moved to Traer and attended school, graduating in the Class of 1930.

Maxine continued her education at Cedar Rapids Business College. She then worked for the B. Frank Thomas Law Office in Traer and was also on loan to Judge Tobin in Vinton.

She married Donald Martin Sept. 2, 1933, at Waukon and they farmed in Crystal Township. In 1976 they retired to Traer before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1987.

In free moments she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading, playing bridge and college sports.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of PEO.

Preceding here in death were her parents; husband, Donald; and three sisters.

Surviving are a son, Terry and Dixie Martin of Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Molly and John Gray of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
