Funeral services for Delbert J. Ewoldt, 94, of Traer were held Friday afternoon, June 6, 1997, at the Traer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marshall Monthei officiating. Burial was at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

Mr. Ewoldt died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.

Music for the funeral service was provided by Debra Wentzien, organist. Casket bearers were Stanley Postal, Calvin Dostal, Richard Hoist, Dennis Hosek, Barton Jensen and Bill Smart. Flowers were handled by Marlys Karkosh and Myrna Dostal.

Delbert J. Ewoldt was born Dec. 28, 1902, at Clutier, Ia., the son of Alfred and Clara (Kloppenburg) Ewoldt. He received his education in country school at Carroll #1 in Tama County and then began farming with his father.

Delbert was united in marriage to Lois Elverum at Davenport, Ia., on Nov. 22, 1954. The couple made their home farming north of Clutier. In 1985 they retired to their home in Traer and in March 1995 Delbert became a resident of Sunrise Bill Care Center.

He was a member of the Tama County Farm Bureau.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Elmer, Edwin and Ervin; one sister, Lorena Podhajsky and one granddaughter.

Surviving are his wife, Lois; three daughters; Mrs. Gary (Mary) Hompland of Jerome, Id., Mrs. Todd (Nancy) Patterson of Hudson and Mrs. Doug (Karen) Boland of Williamsburg; one stepson, David Elverum of New Hartford; one sister, Leola Dunlap of Traer and 11 grandchildren.
