OBITUARY

Funeral services for Henry C. Holst, 91, of rural Clutier were held Monday afternoon, July 3, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Traer officiated by the Rev. Marshall Monthei. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

He died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where he was a patient after becoming suddenly ill.

Music for the funeral service was provided by Joleen Edwards, organist and Wayne Dunlavey, vocalist. Casket bearers were Greg Ewoldt, Harold Vorba, Kent Holst, Scott Kimberlin, Lon Kimberlin and Jeff Kopecky.

Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Loren Ewoldt and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Dvorak.

Henry Charles Holst was born on the family farm near Clutier, IA, March 18, 1909. He was one of four children born to Alfred and Katherine (Paustian) Holst. He received his education in country school and attended Traer High School.

He then began farming on the family farm southeast of Traer.

On Nov. 27, 1930, he was united in marriage to Doris Fletcher at the home of her mother in Traer. Henry and Foris made their home all their married life on the farm, where Henry continued to live following Doris' death Sept. 27, 1995.

Henry was well known for his skills in breeding and raising pure bred Aberdeen Angus cattle for over 50 years. He received the Historic Angus Award in 1991 and received the Izaak Walton League Award for soil conservation in 1989.

He enjoyed spending time nurturing his evergreen grove and other free moments were spent visiting and reminiscing with family and friends.

Henry was a member of the Traer United Methodist Church and the Tama County Farm Bureau.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Doris; and two brothers, Ray and Arlin.

Henry is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Norman Kopecky of Guttenberg, IA, and Jo Ann and Dan Kimberlin of Charlotte, NC; one sister Elsie Wallace of Prescott, AZ; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Overton Family Funeral Home-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
