OBITUARY

Buckingham - Henrietta Hayes, 89, of rural Buckingham, died Friday, July 23, at Parkview Gardens Care Center, of cancer.

She was born Oct. 10, 1903, daughter of Henry and Emma Strohbehn Hinz, in Granville. She married Thomas LeRoy Hayes Feb. 10, 1926, at Blessing. He died July 16, 1978.

Mrs. Hayes received a teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, in 1923. She taught school in rural Traer, and was employed by Dinsdale Savings Bank until 1926.

Survivors include two sons, Carroll T. of rural La Porte City and Dr. Donald P. of rural Buckingham; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Edna Hinz of Waterloo.

Services will be 10:30 am, Monday at St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eagle Center, with burial at 1:30 pm at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Blessing. Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm today at Oppold-Hagarty Funeral Home, where there will be a Rosary service at 3 pm and a vigil service at 7 pm. Visitation also an hour before services at church.

Memorials will be accepted, with beneficiary determined at a later date.
