OBITUARY

A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at Dysart United Methodist Church in Dysart, for Alta K. Hark, 100, of Traer and Dysart. She died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. Officiating at the funeral was the Rev. Donald Bogue. Burial was at Cedar Memorial Mausoleum at Cedar Rapids.

Memorial may be directed to Dysart United Methodist Church.

Alta Katherin Hark was born near Dysart, IA on June 7, 1901, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Messer) Mehlaus. Alta received here education in country school and helped her family at home. On Dec. 31, 1924, she married Harry Hark at the home of her parents at Dysart. Alta and Harry made their home farming near Dysart until moving to town in 1963. Hary died May 29, 1977.

In addition to raising her daughter, Alta enjoyed playing cards with friends and crocheting. She attended the United Methodist Church in Dysart and had taught Sunday School there.

Recently Alta had celebrated her 100th birthday, but in the past few weeks, her health began to fail.

Alta was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Verjean (V.J.) and Truman Chaffin of California.
