OBITURY

Funeral services for M. Eleanor Currerns of Waterloo, and formerly of Traer, were held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at the United Presbyterian Church of Traer with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

M. Eleanor Currens was born Jan. 27, 1919, at Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of James W. and Virginia W. (Bridgeman) Middleton. At the age of four she moved to Des Moines, IA where she attended school and later graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1937. Eleanor continued her education at Mac-Mruray College in Jacksonville, IL and later Iowa State University in Ames.

She then worked as an office manager of Puritan Laboratories in Des Moines.

On Sept. 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to John R. "Randy" Currens at Des Moines. Eleanor and Randy then made their home farming southwest of Traer for 42 years before moving to Ridgeway Place in Waterloo on Oct. 9, 1993.

On Friday Eleanor entered Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo where her death came on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at the age of 81 years.

In free moments she enjoyed sewing, crafts, knitting and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Barbara Anne.

She is survived by her husband, John R. "Randy" Currens of Waterloo; one son and his wife, James and Kari Currens of Traer; a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Patrick Pinkston of Milan, IL and four grandchildren, Michelle Pinkston, Steve Pinkston, Sarah Pinkston and James Ryan Currens.

A memorial fund has been established.

Overton Funeral Home-Traer was in chare of arrangements.
