OBITURY

Funeral services were held for Robert L. "Bob" Clark, 78, of Traer on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Traer with Father John Tilp officiating. Military graveside services were held by Kubik-Finch Post #142 of Traer. Burial was at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Bob died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center following an extended illness.

Robert Leroy Clark was born on August 31, 1927 at Quasqueton, Iowa, the son of Clarence Francis and Bernice (Andersen) Clark. Bob attended Lamont High School and graduated in the Class of 1943. He then attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette before entering the US Army in 1945 serving his country in the Philippines. Following his discharge, Bob returned to Upper Iowa University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and received his Master's degree at the University of Iowa at Iowa City. Bob then marrried Patricia Koch on Oct. 25, 1951 at Lamont, Iowa.

Bob and Pat made their home at St. Ansgar, Iowa where he began his teaching career in 1952. In 1954 they moved to Dysart, Iowa where Bob taught history, coached and later was High School Principal. In 1961 they moved to Traer where he was High School Principal and coached girls' backetball. On June 30, 1989 Bob rretired from North Tama Schools and a career of 38 years spanning severeal generations of students.

Bob was a Past President of the Secondary Principals Association of Iowa, a member of St., Paul Catholic Church and Traer American Legion. He was also an avid sports fan especially for the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeye's.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald.

He is survived by his wife Pat, two sons and their wives: Mike & Julie Clark of Manhattan, KS and Mark & Flavia Clark of Sacramento, CA, one brother Dick and his wife (Julie) Clark of Washington D.C. as well as five grandchildren.

Overton Funeral Home, Traer, was in chaarge of the arrangements.
